Hello there! Since I'm going on a small trip not too far away from the city, I'd thought it'd be good share what I'll be taking. The image above shows partially what I'll be taking in my handbag, which is actually a small backpack (left). But I'm also taking luggage, it might sound a bit exaggerated, considering that I'll only be there for five days. However, since I'll be spending New Year's there with my special one, I'm taking extra stuff for the special occasion.

Travel Essentials

Happy holidays! Surprisingly, I didn't take many pictures this Christmas (except family portraits). I usually go crazy with my camera, but somehow I ended up focusing more on enjoying the moment than worrying about getting the perfect shot. What I do regret is not taking any pictures of our dinner or the cupcakes that we had. Well, hopefully next year I'll improve with my holiday photographs. 2016 is right around the corner and I have small trip planned, so you'll be seeing pics of that as well. See you soon!

Late Christmas

I haven't done a favorites posts in a while. Here are a couple of random things I've been loving lately:

NYX HD Studio Photogenetic Primer Base: Honestly, it's the first time I use a primer. Before, I never had much interest in making my make-up process too long, so I'd just put on foundation and powder. However, I was struggling making my makeup last on my nose, that tends to get oily. So after doing some research and going to the store, the seller recommended this product. Thank goodness she did, because it's amazing. My appearance of my pores diminish and my makeup lasts so much longer!

Organix Keratin Oil Conditioner: I'm the type of person that constantly looks for new hair products because I can't seem to find the right one for my hair type (naturally curly, dyed and chemically treated). So I was running out of conditioner and I came across this product at the supermarket. I've used the Organix Argan Oil conditioner before, which worked out well. But this one here is by far better.

La Luna Vita Blog Photography

Another super quick post. My life is pretty hectic. I can keep things balanced, except for the blog it seems. I have ideas on subjects to write about. I really want to share a review on some beauty products I've been loving lately. But guess what? I don't have the time. I want to take good shots of the products and take the time to write a consistent review, not just a superficial, one-sentenced opinion. In the meantime, here I share a picture I took from my phone the other day. It was taken with the frontal camera, just when I was about to take a selfie I noticed the view behind me. Of course I edited using VSCO app. Just about three more weeks until the stressful days are over!

Summer longing

So I just finished midterms yesterday. It feels so strange actually having a Sunday all for myself, no assignments or homework to catch up with, no due dates for this week (as far as I'm concerned). Finally being able to relax and take a small break right in the middle of the semester. This second half will be more tiresome for me. Besides my regular school classes and work, next Sunday I'll be starting an intermediate Excel course at a different institution. It lasts for six weeks, sessions are once a week for four hours each. I know what you're thinking --why Sundays? It's the only days I have some spare time. So basically I won't have anymore "me time" until December. Gosh, I cannot wait 'til summer break. In the meantime I'm sharing this picture of some beautiful flowers my mom bought the other day. Have a nice day!

Searching for the bright side

Picture taken February 2014

We are a rare breed
The type that can't sleep at night
Fingers crossed
And tongues tied

We are endangered
With the future in mind
Starring at the constellations
Leaving the past behind

When we found one another
We did not comprehend
How our differences
Could make us intertwine

P.S. I know I haven't posted any poems since the beginning of this blog, nor was it my intention to include these types of posts here. But sometimes you just gotta unleash those thoughts, right?

Unleashing thoughts

I apologize for the lack of updates. The semester began a month ago. Plus, now I'm happy to announce that I'm working! I got a job as an intern at my university, which is great because it's easier to get to my classes on time. However, it's pretty difficult managing everything into an appropriate schedule: school assignments, work, social life and personal time. I'm still searching to find that balance. In the meantime, here I share a couple of food pictures from the previous weeks. Hopefully I won't take too long until the next update.

Hectic Schedule

I went to the zoo with my family a couple of weeks ago. I think the zoo in Lima requires some improvement, but overall it was a nice day. Here are some of my favorite shots.

A day at the zoo

"Club Vintage" is the title in the Spanish version. If you live in an English speaking country, you'll most likely find it as "Vintage: A Novel". To be honest, I purchased this book unexpectedly. I went inside a bookstore looking for small notebooks, but I didn't find any so I decided to take a look around either way. That's when I came across this book, as soon as I saw it, I grabbed it to read the back. I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but it looked to colorful and pretty that it caught by attention. After reading the plot summary, it seemed quite interesting, so I bought it.

Book Review: Club Vintage

Hello there! The other day I tried for the first time one of those detox drinks. I had been dying to try this for a while, ever since I saw so many pictures of these drinks on Tumblr. I used strawberries and lemons (it was all I had at the moment) and I totally recommend it! It's quick to prepare and it's so much better than drinking plain water. In a few days I'll buy some raspberries and oranges, and hopefully I'll be able to find blueberries (which are kinda scarce here in Peru --sucks, I know.)

Also, I've been reading "Vintage: A Novel" by Susan Gloss. I'm almost finished, I'll post up a review as soon as I'm done. And last but not least, here is a picture of some colorful flowers my mom bought the other day. Have a nice weekend!

I miss you so.

Anyone else remember that song from Fort Minor? Anyway, am I the only one that feels inspired to do creative things when I don't have the time? And then, when I have all this free time I yearned so much, I suddenly become lazy and loose the inspiration to do the things I had in mind. Well, this happens to me quite often. Like just a few weeks ago, during finals, I was eager to get back to blogging and painting, but I couldn't at that time because I had to study. Now, I don't know what to write about in the blog and I certainly have no idea what to paint on that empty canvas that awaits for me. Not to mention, I feel like I'm getting the flu --just what I needed. Well, I'll try to keep myself busy these days with yoga class and reading. Maybe that way I'll find again that inspiration that was nagging me so much.

In the meantime, here I share a picture I took of some beautiful orange trees while I was in Seville, Spain.

Inspiration, where'd you go?

The other day when I met up with a few friends from high school that I hadn't seen in a long time, they pointed out how my skin had improved. (I used to have acne problems a while back). I honestly hadn't given much thought to it until now. My skin care routine has been somewhat the same for over a year approximately, and I've been using the same products more or less. So I thought it'd be a good idea to share here what I use and how I use it:

Skin Care Essentials

Well, I know so far in this blog I haven't talked about movies or TV shows. But I just wanted to share my opinion about A from Pretty Little Liars. (If you don't watch PLL, you don't have to continue reading). Some of my friends have stopped watching PLL altogether because the situations in the show have gotten too twisted and confused, sometimes making barely any sense. But I'm way too curious to stop watching the show. I'm still on season 4, the fifth season isn't up yet on Netflix for Latin America, so I just have to be patient. I might be missing out on some details, but Aria being A seems like a legit possibility. Right now, I'm in episode 20 of season 4, and it all seems to indicate that Ezra is A. Who knows, maybe Aria and Ezra started working together ever since they met. In the book series, it turns out it was Ali's evil twin all long. I think the TV show will definitely take a different direction, the evil twin thing would make it too predictable. All we know is that A has to be one or a few of the characters that have at some point been in the show -- perhaps they've taken turns as A.

Who is A?

This week's color on my nails is "Vesper" by OPI from the Bond Girls Collection. I got it as a birthday gift, and although I generally don't use purple (clothing, shoes or nails) the sandy/glittery finish caught my attention, so I decided to try it. I know many people like the color purple, but for some reason I don't like it so much. Nevertheless, I really like this nail polish. I'll definitely be wearing it more often, since it's still winter here, although it's been warmer than usual --the weather has been kinda crazy.

Halfway There

I turned 22 two days ago. But seriously, where do the years go? All of a sudden I'm an adult and I do not feel like one. I guess it's a matter of time until I get used to it-- the independence and all the responsibilities that come along with it. Earlier today I saw this post "Ten Life Lessons You Learn In Your Twenties" and I could totally relate with a few. We never stop learning, every phase in life provides us with important lessons.

Balconies in Monaco - Trip to Europe Aug. '14
Haven't you ever felt the need to get away from all these technological devices that surround us in our everyday lives? I know I have. Internet users have an average of 5 social media accounts. It's pretty crazy considering that ten years ago people were content using emailing and MySpace on a computer. Now it's become a need and the access has never been easier-- our smartphones. But if you think about it, is it really necessary?

Disconnect to connect

On those days were you don't know what color to paint your nails, it's best to go with red. It's bright, fun and goes with anything. My go-to color is "Deeply in Love" by Nicole by OPI.

Go-to color

It's been two weeks since he's gone. The first few days were tough. Now I'm slowly getting used to it. It's weird waking up in the morning and not seeing him sleeping in the hallway, or coming back home to an empty place. I know most people say "it's just a pet", but he was way more than that. 10 years of loving memories. Since he was a Shih Tzu, I'd thought that he'd live longer, but unfortunately I was wrong. Kuky (pronounced cookie) was seriously the best companion I could have asked for. I'm not sure if it's just me or if other people also have a hard time coping with the loss of their pets. What's certain is that time heals everything.
I'll never forget you buddy <3

Two weeks

I always take random pictures of sunsets - March '15

So I came across an article that talked about this girl who was challenging herself 100 Days Without Fear. I totally relate with her. I'm one of those people who dread change, I panic as soon as I notice I'm getting out of my comfort zone. I think it's very brave of her to do this challenge. Some things she does may seem normal and nothing out of the extraordinary for others, but even if a fear is small, overcoming it is a big step.

Why be afraid?

Literally. The image above is a reflection of my patio. Today Lima woke up to a gray and rainy morning. The beginning of winter perhaps? So the reason why I have started this blog is a bit confusing to explain. Before, I had a blog on Blogger that started back in 2012. At first I'd just share random things and I didn't post often. After some time, I started focusing more on the whole "lifestyle" topic. I haven't deleted it yet, I'm surely not planning to.

Let's start with a reflection

Hello! Today I'll be sharing a few makeup products from Japan. I didn't travel there, but my mom's friend lives in the outskirts of Tokyo, and a few months ago when she came to visit, she brought these. The eyeshadows with the heart shaped palettes have become part of my go-to makeup routine. The colors are soft and shimmery. Take a look at the pictures!

These are good for smokey eyes. It's from the brand Kose Visse. (I didn't find their official website).

Gold Palette by the brand KATE

Lipgloss from KATE

Saving the best for last. They're by the brand Shiseido Integrate, but I wasn't able to find their official site either.

Japan Makeup

Hello there! So a while back I bought the Organix Macadamia Oil Shampoo and the Organix Argan Oil Conditioner. Although it states in the back of both bottles that it's preferable to use the products of the same line, I ended up buying different ones because they weren't available at the store the day I purchased them. Before getting started, I think it's important to share my hair type, since the results of hair products tend to vary from one person to another. My natural hair would a a Type 2B Wavy Curly with a mix of some 2C Wavy Whirly. Last year I got the Brazilian straightening treatment. However, I feel like my curls still haven't returned back to normal completely.

Anyway, I became interested in the brand Organix because all of their products have natural ingredients. Last year, before getting the straightening treatment, I tried out their Coconut Milk Mousse which I did not like -- it dried out my hair. But a couple of months ago I started searching for reviews on their shampoos, and many people recommended it. Hence, I ended up buying it.
Curiosity killed the cat, or didn't it?

Review: Organix Shampoo and Conditioner

Sorry for the lack of posts. The semester began and my laptop broke down. I haven't been able to use it for a week. Anyway, right now I don't have that much time, I'll just be sharing some of my Instagram pictures. But I'll post new things soon :)

So long no updates

Hello there. Today I wanted to share one my main inspirations as to why I've started sketching again. I had seen these drawings on Tumblr before, but there was never a direct link to the artist. The other day on Instagram I finally found it! The drawings are from Paper Fashion

Inspirational Sunday

Hello there! So last weekend I went on a trip with my boyfriend up north to a beach called Punta Sal. It was pretty amazing, just relaxing and enjoying the few days that are left of summer vacation. On Thursday the semester starts again which means the usual: study and have no life.

Here are some of the pictures I took.

The one above was taken with my reflex camera, the two below with my iPhone. I know DSLR cameras have way better quality but while you're on a trip just to take some time out, the last thing you need is a heavy camera hanging around your neck all of the time and worrying that it won't get wet. Just a personal opinion.

"We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us."

Job Interview

Hello there! So today I had my first job interview ever! I was so nervous at first, then I calmed myself down. It's important to show confidence during the interview, otherwise the interviewer (who is most of the time a psychologist during the first stage) will perceive you as not suitable for the position. Body language is important to keep in mind because what you may not be saying with words, your body is making it pretty obvious. Well, whether I get the job or not, it won't be the end of the world if I don't. One must never give up while pursuing their goals :)

Job Interview

So my favorites for this month are a bit random. Here they are:

1. Quinoa Flakes: I only found the chocolate flavored ones, but they taste to good! I pour them in a cup of milk in the mornings.
2. Chai Latte: I had been wanting to try this for a while. At first I was doubtful because tea and milk seem a bit of a rare combination. But it's amazing, I'll definitely buy some more.

February Favorites

Who said photographing was easy? In a studio, you can sometimes end up using five light sources for one small object. Luminosity is a complicated subject, especially when the object you're photographing is naturally shiny, e.g: glass of wine.

These are my other two takes. I edited them using the Pixrl Online Editor. It's a very good option if you don't have Adobe Photoshop. Of course, it's not as complete, but it can get the job done.

Now, my next assignment is photographing the wine bottle at a studio, but seriously, who has time for renting a studio? I'll try it at home, see what I get.

Crimson cup

I really missed going for walks with no specific destination, just to photograph stuff. Last weekend my boyfriend and I decided to go watch the sunset. Towards the twilight, the sky turned a peculiar pink and violet, which isn't so common here in Lima.  I find the sky, and specially sunsets, quite mesmerizing. Everyday there's something different about the position of the clouds and the tone they catch due to the descending sun. These are the pictures I took, none were edited.

Now I have a new task for the photography course I'm taking: wine glass and capture the picture while the wine is being poured. A total challenge I must admit. But nothing's impossible, right? If the pictures come out good enough, I'll share them in an upcoming post.

Paint the town sunset

So for Christmas I got an Instax Mini 8. I haven't taken many pictures with it, just the one you see above. A tip to keep in mind: never take pictures with these cameras when it's dark outside. I didn't know any better and about three weeks ago, I was walking with my boyfriend at a park that has a view of the ocean. It looked stunning with the moon in the sky, and I wanted to capture it. Since I had my Instax Mini with me, I thought, hey why not? Well, the picture came out completely black, except a small corner in the lower left corner, were a bit of grass was visible. That's how I learned.

Also, I did my nails. I haven't gotten a manicure at a salon in like six months or so. I decided that it was best doing manis at home, less expensive and more time saving. I'm no expert in nail designs, but I try. In order to achieve this look, I used the following nail polishes:

1. Unique Prolong Color in Azul Infinito
2. Maybelline's Color Show in Denim Dash
3. Maybelline's Color Show in Pedal to the Metal
4. Unique Prolong Color in Blanco Nieve
The first polish I applied #1 and on top #2. That's what gave it a shimmery effect, because polish #1 on it's own is pretty dark. On the ring finger I made small dots using 3 and 4. On my thumb I made a diagonal line with #3, even though it didn't come out in the picture. And obviously, never forget to apply base coat and top coat, it's super important! It happened to me last year that I would only use top coat and never the base coat. I was really into dark colors at that time (now I vary more often lol) and after a couple of months of constant nail painting, my nails ended up yellow-ish. It was awful, I had to go for like a month without any nail polish in order to get the natural color back. Ever since, the base coast has been my best ally.

Goodbye January

Hello there! I can't believe January has passed by so fast. Where does time go, seriously? Well, I changed the theme of my blog, even though there's a broken image or link that appears at the end of every post and it bothers me, I have no idea how to remove it. So I'll probably continue looking for new themes. Anyway, I was about to make a terrible decision: stop blogging. It had crossed my mind many times previously, but in the end I decided to stay. Perhaps this blog will later become more photography-like. I'm still not sure about which direction should be taken. I'll try to update at least twice a month, just as I have done these past two years. (Whoa, two years! This is the longest time I've had a blog lol.) Well, it's actually turning 3. I'll probably do a special post about it when the date arrives.

Lately, I haven't been doing much. And yes, I admit it's totally bad, I could be using my time more wisely. I've been doing morning workouts, spending time with my boyfriend and catching up with a couple of friends. I also enrolled in a course called "Photo Publicity", which is basically a photography class focused on well, publicity. Our first assignment was photographing a fruit or vegetable. I tried with both and I think these were my best pictures. However, I didn't turn these in because these were used with a slower speed and higher ISO than the ones indicated by the teacher. I'm considering buying a speedlight, but I'm not sure if it's actually worth it. First of all, it's a bit expensive here, and secondly, photography is my hobby not my profession. I used a Canon Rebel T3i, and a 50mm lens, just in case you're wondering.

So I'll start thinking about what subjects to write about in this blog. I was also thinking about changing the name, but I'm still not sure. However, my main goal as for my blog this year is to only posts images taken by me, using my Canon camera and not my phone. I really want to take up photography again, even after I'm done with the course I'm currently taking. Before, I used to always take pictures and it felt great. I really want that back. That would be all for today!

2015 finally arrived. And I apologize for the lack of updates. I was planning on doing a post on nail art in December, but since I went on a trip and then the holidays right around the corner, I didn't have enough time. I'll still do a post on nail art ideas in a few weeks probably. I'm hoping I'll have plenty of free time this summer.

It's a new year, a fresh start, even though I personally think that any day is a good day to start new. Let's say that my journey as a blogger hasn't been the best. I've had ups and downs, keeping a blog updated is not as easy. It requires time and effort. The easiest blogs are the ones that are diary-like. This blog wasn't intended to be like that, hence the need for me to look for ideas and subjects to write about. I won't promise anything this year, but I'll keep on blogging, that's for sure.

The book I recently started reading is "Eat Pray Love". I've seen the movie once, like a year ago. And last month I went to a book fair and found it, so I ended up buying it. I love the way the author narrates her life experiences. The genre I usually read is realistic fiction, this is the first time I'm reading a memoir and I'm enjoying it so far.

Anyway, in the meantime, here are some of my Instagram pictures!
